Disaster Risk Management
SST aims to promote the implementation of modern standards in disaster risk management in Georgia - including the development of early warning systems, alert mechanisms, and effective evacuation plans, ensuring a safer environment for citizens.
Currently, Georgia lacks a well-developed infrastructure and mechanisms necessary for timely response and public protection in times of crisis. In particular, there is an absence of:
-
Early warning and alert systems;
-
Mechanisms for early detection and warning of wildfires;
-
Early warning systems for floods and landslides;
-
Well-established evacuation plans for the population in emergency situations;
-
Comprehensive disaster management frameworks;
-
And more.
Given Georgia’s geographical location and the growing impact of climate change, prevention and effective management of such risks are critically important.
Similar systems have already been successfully implemented in many countries. SST is actively working to study international best practices, adapt them to local conditions, and introduce cutting-edge technologies that will help reduce risks and create a safer environment in Georgia.
