Sensor Systems for Wheat
One of the key projects in the field of annual crops.
SST has installed and configured an agro-meteorological station and sensor systems for wheat cultivation in Kakheti, covering over 200 hectares. These systems enable farmers to continuously monitor soil and climatic parameters and make data-driven decisions — a crucial factor for a successful agribusiness.
The agro-meteorological station provides farmers with online access to:
-
23 types of climate data, including: air temperature and humidity, solar radiation and energy, evapotranspiration, rainfall, vapor pressure deficit (VPD), chilling hours, growing degree days (GDD), dew point, delta T, and more.
-
3, 7 and 14-day weather forecasts, including: air temperature, precipitation amount (mm) and probability (%), snowfall (mm), wind speed and direction, humidity, daily evapotranspiration (ETo), solar radiation, barometric pressure, cloud cover (%), and sunlight duration (in minutes).
With irrigation monitoring systems, farmers can assess and plan for:
-
The amount of plant-available moisture in the soil;
-
Volumetric soil moisture, salinity (EC), and temperature;
-
Optimal irrigation timing and frequency, ensuring wheat receives the exact amount of water needed for healthy growth.
With the disease monitoring station, farmers can continuously monitor the risk of 14 common wheat diseases, which allows them to:
-
Plan preventive actions in a timely manner
-
Reduce the use of chemical treatments
-
Organize agricultural activities in advance
FARMVIEW – a smart software solution that collects and analyzes data from physical devices, providing farmers with precise insights for efficient irrigation management.
FARMVIEW includes three main modules:
-
SATELLITE - Satellite monitoring system
-
IRRIMET - Irrigation management tool
-
SOIL MOISTURE MODULE - Soil moisture monitoring
By using these sensor systems, farmers can significantly optimize resource usage, reduce operational costs, and achieve high-quality yields.
