New Large-Scale Project: Blueberry Orchard in the Village of Ingiri
We are excited to announce the launch of our next major project! A blueberry orchard is being developed on an 80-hectare area in Samegrelo, specifically in the village of Ingiri. As part of the initial phase, alongside preparatory works, a modern agro-meteorological station has been installed on the site.
Why is this important?
Accurate analysis of climatic conditions is crucial during the first stage of the project. Based on the data from the agro-meteorological station:
-
Blueberry varieties will be selected that adapt best to the local environment;
-
Future agronomic risks will be minimized;
-
Optimal resource management will be ensured.
What parameters does the agro-meteorological station measure?
The station monitors all critical climatic indicators in real-time, which is essential for informed decision-making:
-
Air temperature and humidity;
-
Wind speed and gust speed;
-
Precipitation (mm) and leaf wetness (duration in minutes);
-
Daily Evapotranspiration (ETo);
-
Solar radiation;
-
Sunshine duration (minutes);
-
Dew Point, VPD (Vapor Pressure Deficit), and Delta T.
Future Steps
Once the orchard is established, the meteorological station will be moved to a relevant location and equipped with soil moisture and various other sensors. This will allow us to plan the following with maximum precision:
-
Irrigation Schedule: Water resource conservation and efficiency.
-
Fertigation: Precise dosing of fertilizers.
-
Plant Protection: Optimization of pesticide use based on actual needs, and more.
Location: Village Ingiri, Zugdidi Municipality
Crop: Blueberry
Total area: 80 hectares
