Installation of a Meteorological Station and Sensors
in an Almond Orchard

In the village of Lemshveniera, Gardabani Municipality, smart technologies and sensors (SST) were used to install and configure an agro-meteorological station and sensor systems produced by the American company Davis Instruments in an 80 hectare almond orchard.

As part of the project, the following equipment was installed on the plot:

  • Agro-meteorological station (Cabled Vantage Pro2 GroWeather);

  • Leaf Wetness Sensor;

  • Soil Moisture Sensor;

  • Soil Temperature Sensor.

Thanks to the integrated sensors and smart systems, the farmer will have constant real-time access to soil and climate data, weather forecasts, and the risk of disease outbreaks specific to almond crops.

Based on the data collected from the sensor systems and agro-meteorological station, the farmer can:

  • Make data-driven, accurate, and timely decisions;

  • Plan agro-technical activities in the orchard in advance;

  • Manage irrigation according to the condition of the soil and crop, which helps save water and energy;

  • Receive timely alerts about the probability of specific disease outbreaks, apply treatments as needed, and reduce the risk of disease spread - ultimately minimizing pesticide use;

  • Increase yield and improve product quality with lower costs

    Location: Gardabani Municipality, Lemshveniera Village
    Crop: Almond
    Total Area: 80 hectares
