Design and Installation of Weather Stations and Sensors
The Digital Platform GECSA
Sensors and Smart Technologies (SST) is participating in a major project that supports the development of Georgia’s agricultural sector!
With the support of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Rural Development Agency is creating a digital platform for agrometeorological services – GECSA (Georgia Climate Services for Agriculture). GECSA will provide farmers with climate-based recommendations, helping to promote climate-smart agriculture, increase crop yield and quality, and reduce costs.
As part of the project, SST has successfully programmed and installed the following for apple, grape, peach, wheat, and corn farms in Kakheti and Shida Kartli:
-
9 agrometeorological stations;
-
1 pheromone-based camera trap (iSCOUT).
The agrometeorological stations provide continuous, real-time data on:
-
3-7 and 14-day weather forecasts;
-
23 types of climate indicators.
The pheromone camera trap (iSCOUT) offers real-time/online access to:
-
Alerts on pest emergence risks;
-
Photos of identified pests;
-
Live monitoring of pest types, their spread level, and population size.
All devices are produced by Metos by Pessl Instruments, SST’s Austrian partner company!
Location: Kakheti, Shida Kartli
Crops: Apples, Vineyards, Peaches, Wheat, Corn
